Our Farmhouse: Next on Our List . . . the Basement

This is how our basement looked before we began. As you can see there is not much headroom and the floor is just dirt. We do have great rubble walls.

This is the front of the basement under the old house. The block under the 1917 addition that we removed at the back will get new cement block

Another shot of our great rubble walls, but again not much headroom and a dirt floor.

This shows the back of the old house basement and the side of the new addition basement block. The top blue arrow shows the new block. The bottom blue arrow shows the berm of the cement that is a foot higher than our new basement floor. That berm runs in front of all the rubble walls.

I think the basement turned out quite nice. We have painted the block walls white to give us more light. We added two glass block windows to help with that also. We have a new furnace, a new water heater a new water pump, and two sump pumps in case of flooding, We plan to have a bar and workroom, but it is still a work in progress. Stay tuned and you will see it as we get to it.
