We begin the garage

OUR FARM:

This section is about building our garage. Just coming to the area, it was a challenge to find workers. Our favorite local diner (The Chat ‘n Chew) turned out to be a big help making connections.

As soon as we find some design help and builders, we begin the garage. We found unlike California, you really must go by word of mouth on who are the best builders in the area. You then need to wait in line until they can do the work. Even that is no assurance that you will get a finished job.

Bringing all those belongings we needed storage. The house was not suitable yet and would take some time to repair. Although we had a 40’ shipping container, we decided the best thing was to build our garage first.

This was no ordinary garage. It is holds three cars and has a full upstairs for storage. We were very happy with the results. As we finished the garage, we found Ohio weather was already turning cold. We immediately began some work on the house. We had Amish workers that braved the cold conditions, but had to take time off for muzzle loader season.
